The Sitch:
Meet the Secret Society of Santas, a group of legendary holiday figures from around the world who have been bestowed magical powers by the very first Santa, St. Nicholas. These said powers that bring joy and holiday cheer have been severed, brought on by the theft of St. Nicholas’ bones. All the Santas are stranded at the North Pole, their only chance at reclaiming what is theirs is with the help of an imprisoned Krampus.
The Confession:
I wish this story was released in its entirety before Christmas because I would buy a copy for every available stocking I could possibly stuff. Why? It is not because Krampus has become more mainstream popular. Did you see the Christmas episode of Grimm or Family Guy this season? Both appreciated but my personal favorite still being A Very Venture Christmas in 2004. I digress. Joines has done his homework on holiday lore. Kotz does a cool page depicting all the Santas from around the world. Image is fast becoming a favorite of mine and this title does not take away from that at all.
Apologies for not confessing this sooner. It IS the holidays after all and I swear they came on mad fast this year.
If you are looking for fun times for the sake of fun times try this one. Krampus is finally getting the attention he deserves again. Kids really do need a lesson or two dealt to them these days, mainly in regards to entitlement, so what better way to do that than good old fashioned fear? Live and laugh a little, your psyche will thank you.
Oh yeah! I forgot! Have a very Merry Christmas! I hope you all have been good enough this year not to warrant a visit form you-know-who!
